This cake was made for a lucky girl’s 15th birthday. Her mom gave me the following guidelines: “She likes owls and would like the colors white with black lace and some red.” Pretty straighforward, right? At first thought, I didn’t think the whole concept would allow for a cohesive design, but I thought keeping the owl very clean and in the same colors as the rest of the cake, it could be pretty darn cute!

So here is the final design. The white fondant cake has black lace stenciling with red fondant ribbons and a bow. The whole cake is topped off with a sugar owl perched on his little branch.

Flavors: Aunt Chickie’s Red Velvet, Devil’s Food with Vanilla buttercream and fresh strawberries.
